David Hirschfeld

CEO & Founder

David software career spans 30 years with expertise in executive management, business consulting, software development and strategy, technical architecture, user experience engineering, and sales & marketing. Originally from Beverly Hills, California, David worked for major corporations is Dallas, TX, and for the past 24 years in Scottsdale, AZ.

During the late 80’s, David worked in both a sales and technology consulting capacity focused on government sector business for Texas Instruments and IBM mainframe software for Computer Associates. While at computer associates, David was the national sales leader for the company’s largest division. However, his love for software development and his management acumen drew him into a lead position for several major software consulting projects for Allied Signal, Motorola and Intel.

In the early 90’s David founded and operated VendMaster Software Systems, an inventory management and route logistics software company for the snack industry. Over the next 8 years, David grew VendMaster’s reach to over 800 companies in 22 countries. He sold his company in 2000 to a publicly held Canadian logistics firm, where he remained for the next 2 years as VP of Product Strategy. There are still VendMaster customers using his software today.

In 2006, David founded Tekyz, Inc., a software design & development firm focused on Web 2.0 and mobile app development. He has helped design, plan, manage and implement projects for a broad range of business and social sectors including e-commerce, sales lead management, medical systems, internet auctions, real estate, logistics and inventory management, social networking, mobile gaming platforms, and many others. David partnered with Anzu (www.anzumedical.com), originally a Tekyz customer, to set up a wholly owned offshore development subsidiary which today employs close to 40 people. Anzu is quickly climbing into a leadership position for medical education and patient record exchange. As one of the founders of Anzu, David sits of their board and continues to act as Anzu’s Chief Technology Officer.

Bill Lavin

General Manager

A great idea is a good starting point. What really matters is turning that idea into a successful business.

Bill’s expertise encompasses project management, management consulting, sales and marketing, and software development. He has worked at major corporations plus has successfully spearheaded a number of startup operations. Originally from Chicago, he began his technical career as a programmer analyst before moving to Phoenix where employed by American Express. There he directed the development of the Gold Year and Platinum Year End Summary, managed the launch of the marketing systems for the Optima Card and headed the strategic development of their Card Acquisition and Worldwide Marketing Systems.

After American Express, Bill provided management consulting to various organizations including Kaiser Permanente and Pacific Bell where he worked closely with their senior management for Strategic Planning and Business Analysis. He then co-founded TIER Corporation, a Bay Area consulting firm. As Vice President of Sales and Marketing, he was instrumental in taking the company from a startup to revenues of over $100 million per year. He was directly responsible for the support of the sales field staff, account management of the company’s largest clients, new sales and strategic alliances with third party vendors. As a Member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Lavin contributed to setting the strategic direction of the Company. When the Board decided to take the Company public, new revenue streams were needed. Bill became Vice President of Strategic Business Development and led the effort to diversify and create new revenue streams. TIER became a publicly traded company on NASDAQ.

After TIER, the question then was: What’s next? The Internet was the new frontier for business and Bill spent time exploring Internet trends and how to best leverage the opportunities they present. This research led to a focus on several areas: online gaming, marketing, Gamification, multi-level referral systems, and ecommerce. Bill was a pioneer in online gaming spearheading the launch of one of the first online casinos; led the development of a pay-for-performance marketing system, and founded MasterCoin Corporation whose charter was to deliver electronic wallet technology. Bill later founded Terrific.US, a software consulting company developing Internet systems and mobile apps, before joining forces with David Hirschfeld, founder of Tekyz.

Maria McCoy

Project Manager

Maria has a unique combination of two skill sets that really add value to any project: 1) sales & marketing and 2) project management. Maria brings over 20 years sales and marketing experience developing, managing and executing programs and campaigns to increase sales effectiveness and revenues. As the Marketing Communication Manager for a leading provider of data analysis software and visualization solutions, she was able to quickly understand complex business ideas and convert them into visually compelling presentations and detailed white papers for clients, marketing, management, and investors. Her value to a project goes well beyond sales & marketing. Maria has extensive experience in project management with a proven track record in ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Her ability to communicate complicated ideas in a simple manner and her attention to detail are invaluable assets when dealing with clients. Her ability to manage both the technical and business aspects of a project and motivate a team are attributes that help contribute to the success of a project.

Traci Gurney

Project Manager

Traci provides a unique perspective and background to the team. As an accomplished marketer and project manager with over 15 years of business development and strategy success in traditional channels and Internet environments, she has successfully launched and positioned initiatives, products and technologies in local and online markets. Prior to joining Tekyz, Traci partnered in creating the branding and marketing of Parasol Advanced Systems, a high technology entertainment industry manufacturer, through various social media outlets and online presence. As partner at Barezan Media Group Inc. a technology marketing and communications firm which provides marketing services for all stages of a product’s life cycle: awareness building, sales strategy and customer relationship management, Traci provided services in marketing, strategy and project management for clients in several sectors including entertainment, consumer goods, grocery, sports and non-profits.

Kim Gourley

Technology Specialist

Kim Gourley is a seasoned professional in Information Systems with an extensive background in enterprise systems, full life cycle development, building technical architectures, object orientated, CASE technologies and Web based solutions. His breadth of experience ranges from working with Fortune 1000 companies and major corporations to startup organizations. His knowledge, expertise and technical leadership have been key factors in the on-time delivery of many mission critical projects including a first of its kind eWallet and a viral marketing system. Kim has also provided consulting to senior management for companies such as American Express, Intel, Motorola, and American Airlines. His business expertise includes financial, banking, ecommerce, shopping carts, marketing analytics and CRM systems. Most recently, Kim has been leading the development of Web 2.0 applications heavy in social networking and is leading development of the server side functionality for launch of various gaming platforms and mobile apps.

Rob Dixon

Gaming Expert

Rob has a unique and diverse skill set that includes software and game development, Internet marketing, project management and executive management. He has led the front-end development of Facebook games at Game Show Network (GSN) whose “Games on Facebook” application is currently #13 in the top 20 on Facebook, with over 6 million monthly users. Rob directed the software development for funBug.com, the successful online entertainment site that pioneered the concept of “promotainment.” He designed the software and the viral marketing scheme that propelled funBug from a startup to 1.5 million members in just 8 months without any traditional advertising. This project employed all the concepts of Gamification even before Gamification was a term. Rob also managed the development of large-scale online casino game systems, including transaction processing systems, referral programs, and viral marketing. Currently Rob is working on several social gaming projects and consulting with clients on their game systems.
